What To Expect
The Law Office of Mary D. McKnight has many years of experience and accrued knowledge of the Texas Family Code, and will be able in a short interview, to advise on process, next steps and approximate cost. Although jury trials have become rarer in family law cases, Mrs. McKnight also has extensive jury trial experience.
Mary McKnight, since being licensed in May 1975, has tried more than 100 jury trials, with an impressive win/loss record. Even in 2017, there are times when a jury may be necessary if the case is to make it to the finish line. For example, in relocation cases, and some cases in which termination of parental rights is sought, a jury may be more likely than a trial court to grant relief. While the most frequent jury issue in family law cases relates to relocation, other jury issues can include characterization of property, reimbursement, valuation of separate or community property, fault in the breakup of the marriage, and other matters.
If a jury trial is considered, Mary McKnight can call on her many years of experience in jury selection, and various trial strategists associated with jury trials.
